Many local governments do not have the resources to have a full-time GIS professional on their staff and lack digital GIS shapefiles for critical infrastructure such as roads. In this tutorial, you will learn how anyone can use a paper map (or no map at all!) to create a GIS shapefile of your community’s road network using Open Street Maps. Participants will leave this session with the tools and knowledge required to create your own GIS file of your road network.
